Leader Training

There is an ongoing programme of training for all scout leaders run by the Zone Training Leader in conjunction with Group Leaders.

New leaders are required to complete four introductory training modules within 100 days before they are issued with their national warrant, group scarf and woggle:
- Scouting Unpacked
- Personal Training Plan
- Tools for the Job
- Being Safe
These are usually run on weekday evenings and take 1-2 hours each.

Training continues after the 100 days modules with a mixture of basic or advanced scouting modules plus self choice modules provided by relevant external providers e.g. The Mountain Safety Council's bushcraft courses.

Completion of the basic training programme results in the Gilwell Woggle, completion of the advanced training programme results in the Wood Beads and Gilwell Scarf.
